Types of Pages

Types of pages available and when to use them

Updated over a week ago

There are 4 different types of pages:

  1. Gallery Pages to display images

  2. Collection Pages to display a collection of Gallery pages thumbnail links

  3. Custom Pages to include different types of sections outside the design settings of a theme

  4. Title Pages to create high-impact landing pages

Gallery Pages

Gallery Pages let you neatly display your images. This is an example of a Gallery Page created with the Amazon theme:

Gallery Pages can be recognized in the Page Editor (Portfolio > Pages) by the image icon, as shown in the sample screenshot below:

  1. Gallery Page icons

Gallery Pages are primarily intended to display Images (here you can find how to upload an image). Other types of items can be added (YouTube or Vimeo Videos, Text Elements, and Header Text or Header Image) as shown in the sample screenshot below.

  1. Gallery Page Editor

  2. 'Add Item +'

  3. You can add an Image, Video (YouTube or Vimeo), Text Element, Header Text or Header Image

The customization options for the other Items are limited, so when intending to mix different types of content (eg: Images, Videos, Text, etc), it would best to use a Custom Page instead.

Collection Pages

Collection pages serve as visual navigation through the site. One can think of Gallery Pages as photo albums, and the Collection page as the bookshelf the photo albums sit on. This is an example of a Collection Page created with the Amazon theme:

The Collection Page example screenshot above contains links to three different Gallery Pages: Sneakers, Hats, and Jackets. Each of the images, once clicked, directs the visitor to the respective Gallery Page. If the visitor clicks on Sneakers for example, they will be redirected to the Sneakers Gallery Page.

You can link to any type of page within your website (except for individual blog posts) with a Collection Page. Each page needs to have a Cover Image visible.

  2. 'Add Item +'

  3. You can add a Page Link, Header Text or a Header Image

Collection Pages can be recognized in the Page Editor (Portfolio > Pages) by the icon, as shown in the screenshot below:

Custom Pages

Custom Pages, enable you to create pages outside the design settings of your theme.

Below is an example of a Custom Page:

Example of a Custom Page

This Custom Page includes a Slideshow and a Contact Form. You can add a variety of Sections to your Custom Pages (sample screenshot below):

  • Text

  • Images (Images only, Slideshows, Images with Text, Image Sets, Link Sets, Comparison Sliders)

  • Media (Hosted Videos for Pro and Pro Plus, Embedded Videos, Soundcloud and Spotify Audio, Instagram Feed, Custom Embed, Map, HTML Block)

  • Forms (Contact Form, Mailing List)

  • Dividers (horizontal graphics)

  1. Add Section (row) to a Custom Page. All Custom Pages, across all our themes, work the same way.

  2. Choose from Text, Images, Media (shown), Forms or Dividers

Custom Pages can be recognized in the Page Editor (Portfolio > Pages) by the icon, as shown in the screenshot below:

Title Pages

Title Pages are a type of Custom Page. Title Pages are high-impact pages that have an image or video background and a clickable element that takes the visitor to your website. For this reason, they are very minimalistic, the menu is not shown, and have limited customization options.

This type of page works well as a Homepage (landing/splash page) for example, as it grabs the attention of the visitor and immediately communicates what the site is about.
