What is a SSL certificate?
SSL Certificates are small data files that digitally bind a cryptographic key to an organization’s details. When installed on a web server, it activates the padlock and the https protocol and allows secure connections from a web server to a browser.
SSL certificates also improve your ranking in Google search, making it easier than ever for people to discover your creative business. You don’t need to do anything to claim your SSL certificate for your Format portfolio site.
If someone visits http://www.mysite.com it will redirect to the secure https://www.mysite.com served site. (mysite.com is an example only)
No Custom Domain
If you do not have a custom domain name connected to your Format portfolio site you can still share your site with your Format Site Address securely by adding 'https://' in the front of the address.
As an example https://jane-dovercourt.format.com
Get a Custom Domain
Format is not a domain registrar service, so you won't be able to register your domain with us.
We recommend registering with Hover.com as they make it very easy to connect.
Once you have registered your domain, let us know and we can help you connect your domain to your Format site.
Problems with your Custom Domain Connection
If you find that you are having trouble viewing your site with a custom domain name that previously worked correctly please let our Success Team know so they can help resolve for you.
Reach us online at our live chat or via our email email@example.com if you have any more questions. We’re happy to help!
