If you are already using Google Search Console you will need to add your 'Property' as https:// as well as http:// and update your site validation.

Access Site Settings

Site Settings for adding Google Search Console verification meta tag to the <head> field
  1. From the left Sidebar, tap 'Settings' icon
  2. Tap 'Site' tab
  3. Scroll down to bottom showing 'Custom <head> Include'. Read warning.
  4. Tap 'Continue Anyway' button.

Google Search Console add https:// URL

Log into your Google Account and select Google Search Console panel 

If you don't already have a Google Account you will need to create and enable Google Search Console.

  1. Add the full site URL beginning with https://

Verify ownership using the HTML tag option code

  1. Scroll down to the 'Other verification methods' panel and select HTML tag
  2. Tap the icon to open the panel
  3. Select and Copy all the code in this field.

The validation code will be the same for https:// and http:// so only needs to be added once.

Paste Code

Paste the meta tag into the Custom <head> Include field and Save Changes

Return to Custom <head> Include field in Dashboard Site Settings.

  1. Paste the copied code into the text area
  2. Save Changes.

Verify with Google Search Console

Return to the Google Search Console browser window.

  1. Tap 'VERIFY'.
