Google Search Console site validation with https://

Users of Google Search Console will need to add your 'Property' as https:// update your sites validation.

Access Site Settings

  1. From the Sidebar, click 'Settings'

  2. Click 'Site' tab

  3. Scroll down to bottom showing 'Custom <head> Include'. Read warning

  4. Click 'Continue Anyway' button


Google Search Console add https:// URL

Log into your Google Account and select Google Search Console panel

If you don't already have a Google Account you will need to create and enable Google Search Console.

  1. Add the URL prefix, it should be your securely connected domain name starting https://www.… click 'CONTINUE'

  1. Scroll down to the 'Other verification methods' panel and select HTML tag

  2. Click the icon to open the panel

  3. Select and Copy all the code in this field

The validation code is the same for https:// and http:// so only needs to be added once.


Paste Code

Return to Custom <head> Include field in Dashboard > Settings > Site.

  1. Paste the copied code into the text field area

  2. Save Changes


Verify with Google Search Console

Return to the Google Search Console browser window.

  1. Click 'VERIFY'


Ownership Verified

  1. Ownership Verified

  2. Click 'GO TO PROPERTY' to continue to the Google Search Console Dashboard.
