15+ New Custom Page Homepage Templates
In February, we added the most popular homepage layouts from our top themes to Custom Page templates, giving you the power to mix and match your favorite homepages while on any theme!
Introducing: Flex Block
In May, we introduced our biggest feature update yet—Flex Block. Flex Block is a drag-and-drop editor within Custom Pages that allows you to create custom page layouts, far beyond the capabilities of our legacy Custom Page editor. The first iteration of Flex Block launched with the ability to add images, text, buttons, and lines. We were pretty proud of our work! But we were only just getting started.
Flex Block: Improved Image Backgrounds and Undo/Redo Capabilities
In July, our team added the ability for full-width image backgrounds to Flex Block, along with undo and redo capabilities, to make for a smoother, more reliable editing experience. Both of these features were implemented based on feedback from our members, and we continue to look at your suggestions very closely.
Video comes to Flex Block along with Flexible Title Pages
September brought a new wave of flex block updates, with the most notable being Hosted and Embedded Video capabilities within Flex Block (including video backgrounds!), along with a new Flexible Title Page editor within Custom Pages.
Our legacy Custom Page editor is host to many Title Page templates, but the customization for these templates was quite limited. Moving forward with Flex Block, our team worked hard to put out a new, more flexible Title Page editor.
Asset Layer List and Slideshows arrive to Flex Block
In December, we added a new asset layer list to Flex Block, allowing you to more easily manage overlapping elements within Flex Block sections. We also added Slideshows as an element within Flex Blocks, with a new suite of customization and design tools.
It's been a busy year for Flex Block! The above features are our biggest updates, but there have been a lot of quieter updates behinds the scenes. From improved accessibility to a wide-width editing grid to persistent colors, our team has been doing the most we can to improve our members' editing experience on Format. And so many of these improvements have come directly from your feedback—we've absolutely loved seeing how you're using Flex Block to build and improve your sites!
Store Collections
In December, we rolled out Store Collections. It's now possible to categorize your Store Products into Collections! For more info on how to make the most of this new feature, see our Help Article here.
Improved Account Security with Multi-Factor Authentication
Our team has taken steps to improve your Format account security by offering the ability to add multi-factor authentication to your account. This includes email authentication, authenticator apps, security keys, and backup codes. Read more about it here.
