Disabling Add-ons and Extensions in Browsers
Sometimes, add-ons or extensions installed in your browser can cause unintended issues with your live site or the site builder. If you’re experiencing an issue that isn’t resolved by a simple cache clear, a good next step is to disable any add-ons or extensions.
Below are instructions on how to disable add-ons and extensions for several supported browsers.
Google Chrome:
Opening a new browser window in Incognito Mode will disable any add-ons or extensions, and allow you to troubleshoot any issues you’re experiencing. You can open a new window in Incognito Mode from your browser’s settings, or by pressing Ctrl + Shift + N (Cmd + Shift + N on a Mac).
Mozilla Firefox:
You can disable add-ons without removing them:
- On the menu bar, click on the Tools menu, and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
- In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions or Appearance or Plugins panel.
- Select the add-on you wish to disable.
- Click the Disable button.
- Click Restart now if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.
To re-enable an add-on, find it in the list of Add-ons and click Enable, then restart Firefox.
Safari:
Click the Safari tab in the menu at the top of your screen, then click on Settings (or Preferences) > Extensions, and toggle off to disable them.
You may also find further instructions for disabling add-ons on this page.
Microsoft Edge:
- In Microsoft Edge, select Extensions located to the right of your browser address bar, then select Manage Extensions.
- Click the toggle next to the extension you want to turn off.
