If your current plan has just renewed and you'd like to downgrade, you can reach out to our Success Team via live chat or email at info@format.com.
Monthly plans can be downgraded at any time.
Downgrading your plan can be a good option if you feel you are not making good use of your current plan's features and content allowances, or if you need a lower-cost option for your site(s).
Viewing your site’s current content amounts
Your site's content amounts can be viewed from within your Settings > Subscriptions area. You can also view a full plan comparison, including content limits, on our Pricing page.
- Navigate to your Settings panel
- Select Subscriptions
- Your current plan is displayed, along with your site's content amounts. You can also click Change Plan to view all available plan options
Selecting a new plan
When you click on Change Plan, you will be directed to the following page:
- You can choose either Annual Billing or Monthly Billing
- Some features may not be available to you on lower plan levels
- You can hover your mouse over the ? symbol for more info on why a plan isn't available for your site
- You can select a new plan
Once you have selected a plan, you'll be brought to a checkout page, where you can select any applicable add-ons and complete your purchase:
- Select any applicable add-ons
- View your Plan Summary
- Continue to Checkout
If you still have time left in your current renewal period, that time will be deducted from the final cost of your downgrade, meaning you will actually pay a lower cost than the regular price shown on our Pricing page. You will see this reflected as a visible deduction in your checkout summary.
Possible issues
There are a couple of reasons why you may not be able to downgrade your site's plan. The most common reason is having too much content on your site. If your content exceeds the limits of the plan you are trying to downgrade to, you won't be able to downgrade until you remove a sufficient amount of content from your site (i.e. pages, images, store products, etc.).
The second most common reason is if you are downgrading in the middle of a Yearly renewal period. Downgrades can only be made within 30 days of an upcoming Yearly plan renewal. For example:
It is March 1st. Your current plan renews on November 1st. You will not be able to downgrade until 30 days before November 1st, which means you will need to wait until October 2nd to downgrade.
If your current plan has just renewed and you'd like to downgrade, you can reach out to our Success Team via live chat or email at info@format.com. Downgrades on recent renewals are handled on a case-by-case basis.
