How to publish your website

When you are ready to show your new Format site to your family, friends, and the world!

View Live Site with Format Address

You can View Site online and find your website address right away by clicking on the 'View' icon in the top-left corner.

  1. Your website will be online right away using the default .format.com site address, this is free but will always show .format.com at the end of the URL.

Changing your Format Address

  1. Click 'Settings' from the left sidebar

  2. Click 'Domain and Email'

  3. Scroll down until you see the Format Address area appear at the bottom

  4. Edit to the Format Address that you want (must be unique and available).

  5. Website Domain is the Format Address for your site, and what you can share if you do not want any of the options below…

Custom Domain Options

To hide the .format.com part of your Format Address from appearing when your Format Portfolio site is viewed we provide three options. Buy and Domain, Transfer a Domain, or Add your own domain (existing).

  1. Click 'Settings' from left sidebar

  2. Click 'Domain and Email'

  3. Buy a Domain (see Buy a Custom Domain Name below)

  4. Transfer a Domain (see Transfer an existing Custom Domain Name to Format below)

  5. Add your own domain (see Connect an existing Custom Domain Name) below

Buy a Custom Domain Name

You can register a custom domain name through Format, free for the first year on Pro Yearly and Pro Plus Yearly plans, or you can register for US$20 on Basic and Monthly Plans.

Transfer an existing Custom Domain Name to Format

Or, you may want to transfer your existing domain name to Format for management and connection.

Ask our team before transferring if you have critical email hosting or other services connected to your custom domain name.

We are only able to transfer or provide domains that end .com, .org, .net, .xyz, .ca or .me
