You can connect a Stripe account to your Store to manage checkouts and collect payments from customers.
Connecting a Stripe account to a new Store
Navigate to your site's Selling > Store panel. If you have never created a Store before, you will be prompted to choose between Stripe or PayPal as your payment processor:
Clicking Connect to Stripe will redirect you to Stripe's account creation screen.
Please Note: You may only use one payment processor at a time. It is not possible to use both PayPal and Stripe to collect payments at the same time.
Connecting a Stripe account to an existing Store
If you have previously created a Store on Format, you can connect to Stripe from your Store's Settings area:
- Store: Navigate to your Store panel
- Settings: Select the Settings tab
- Payment Processor: Scroll down to the Payment Processor heading. From here, you can select Stripe or PayPal. Please note that you must first connect either Stripe or PayPal to be able to select them
- Stripe: Click Connect to Stripe to create your Stripe account and connect it to Format
Complete connection on Stripe
You will be be redirected to Stripe to complete the connection process. Through this process, you will be asked to create a new Stripe account, as well as provide personal details (such as your name, date of birth, and address of residence) and details about your business (such as your job title, field of work, and the types of products you sell). You will also be asked to link a bank account to your Stripe account. This bank account is for receiving payments from Stripe after purchases are made from your Format Store.
If you run into any issues during your Stripe account creation, please write in to our Success Team for help. However, please note that while we will do our best to help, due to Stripe being a third-party service, some issues may need to be solved by Stripe directly, rather than Format.
Once you have completed registration on Stripe, you can navigate back to your Store settings, where you should now see that your Stripe account is connected to Format. You can now begin receiving payments through Stripe.
